Complete
custom website design for Akron/Kent, Ohio band John Jakes Mose. Local band John Jakes Mose needed a website to establish an identity on the web, boost awareness and to assist with concert promotions and mailing lists. John Jakes Mose also wished to offer visitors MP3 format sample clips of their upcoming studio album. I worked closely with founding members Emily & Ron to design a website that reflected their band's eclectic, jazzy musical style. Early on we agreed to use photos from a collection the band mambers had taken during both recording sessions for the ablum as well as random personal photos. The band wished to have a little bit of mystery to the site, and after reviewing the photos we came to a design that was based on the many green 'night vision' photos they had in their collection. With those photos and colors as a base we built the site to keep a visual emphasis on the fact that this was a website by a band, doing so in a slightly abstract manner. All the color photos chosen for the site were tinted in Photoshop to match the 'night vision' look of the inspirational photos. Original artwork by singer Emily was subtly included in the navigation bar/header. The audio tracks were imported and converted to MP3 format, resampled to an acceptable web quality, and trimmed to a 30 second sample length. |
